Back in 2009, I made a terrible mistake by leaving my furry friends Laila and Blake in the yard. Unfortunately, they disappeared, and although Blake was found after a year, Laila remained missing for eight long years. It was a heartbreaking experience for me and one that I deeply regret.
The whereabouts of the missing dogs remain a mystery as there was no sign of forced entry or any indication of theft. However, the good news is that one of the stolen dogs, Blake the pit bull, was located through a Craigslist ad. A resident in San Antonio, Texas attempted to sell the dog for $500, but the woman who lost him was able to retrieve him thanks to the ad. Upon arrival, they found Blake attached to an unusually large chain and confirmed that it was him.
Janice Rackley admitted that she used to be quite careless, but now she has a gentle giant by her side. She was ecstatic to have found Blake, but deep down, she couldn’t help but miss her beloved dog Laila. Despite years of searching and visiting numerous shelters, Sophia has yet to reunite with Laila.
Thankfully, Janice Rackley came across the lost dog in 2018 and noticed that her bones were visible, indicating that she had been on her own for quite some time. Janice’s compassionate nature allowed her to help the poor pup.
According to Janice Rackley, she recognized that someone needed help but no one was willing to lend a hand. She felt like it was her calling to assist this person who relied on her for support.
Every day, Janice makes a journey to the fields carrying large containers of water and food for Laila. At first, she was scared and attempted to escape when approached by the lady, but eventually, she grew to trust her completely.
Janice shared that it took around six months before the puppy started warming up to her and finally allowed her to pet it. She had a bright idea of getting a leash so she could feed the puppy and hold it in place. However, every time she brought out the leash, the puppy would run away. With the frigid weather setting in and New Year’s Eve approaching, Janice knew she had to act quickly if she wanted to save the puppy.
