A kitten of an unusual appearance, possibly the result of a mixture of different breeds and / or a genetic mutation, was found in a forest in northern Arizona.
Two weeks earlier, another kitten of the same age, only of a different sex, was caught in the same place, and both of them were probably from the same litter.
But when the second kitten was brought to the shelter and put together with her brother, people immediately noticed that they had dramatic differences in appearance.
The second kitten was much smaller than the first one, it had fewer teeth, very short little ears, and the muzzle was flattened and round. Also, the kitten moved a little strangely.
The front paws of the kitten were slightly shorter than the hind legs and slightly clubfoot. The walk can be seen in the video.
The kitten looked like a cross between a Persian breed and a Munchkin, which has short legs, but according to the veterinarian, such an unusual appearance is most likely also the result of a genetic mutation.
The first kitten was caught by Ashley Wickfors , a private animal rescue enthusiast. The kittens were first noticed by people living near the forest. First one, and then the second kitten began to come from the forest to the houses and hide under a canopy.
Ashley named her first kitten Miko. Miko stayed at the shelter for quite a while, he was quickly found permanent owners. When Ashley learned that people had caught the second kitten, she came to look at him and was also amazed that the black cat and her brother were so different from each other.
“The vet said it was a rare form of feline dwarfism. But luckily, the cat was otherwise perfectly healthy,” says Ashley.
Ashley took the kitten, whom she gave the nickname Potato (Potato) to her for overexposure (temporary keeping). Poteito gradually grew up and turned out to be very affectionate and sweet.
Ashley wanted to find Poteito a permanent family, but unexpectedly became so attached to a kitty with an unusual appearance that she left her permanently.
“My husband Levi and I just fell in love with her. She follows us everywhere and does not want to get off our hands.”
Ashley still wonders how the little kittens survived in the forest, lived there for some time completely alone (no one ever saw mom’s cats) and happily avoided predator attacks, because just a mile from where they were found, the real thick forest with dangerous animals.
Poteito is 12 weeks now. She looks very cute and exotic and looks like a plush toy, and when she becomes an adult, she will probably acquire even more luxurious wool.
