A Journey of Miracles: Heartwarming Before and After Pregnancy Memories of Triplets' Mom
"Grateful for the Blessings: Fairbanks Couple Embraces the Gift of a Growing Family"
The Fairbanks couple cherishes each child as a precious gift and feels immense gratitude for their "little" family. Their joy knew no bounds when they learned they were expecting a new addition to the family. Already blessed with two children, the prospect of having a little sibling fulfilled a long-held dream for both parents. Three children had always been a cherished aspiration, and now it was becoming a reality.
This time, the expectant mother sensed that the pregnancy was unlike her previous ones, but it wasn't a feeling of uneasiness. It was just different, and her gut feeling reassured her that everything would be fine.
At 10 weeks into her pregnancy, Crystal Fairbanks visited the doctor for a routine check-up, and to her surprise, an ultrasound was suggested. Though unplanned, she saw it as a nice bonus to catch a glimpse of her growing baby. However, during the check-up, the doctors' expressions quickly changed from casual to serious.
"He exclaimed, 'Hold on a minute now,' and for a brief moment, I feared that there might be no baby or something was amiss. But then, he suddenly blurted out, 'Oh my God, there are two heartbeats!' It took me by surprise; I couldn't believe it. I was expecting twins," recalls the mother, astonished by the news.
The Fairbanks couple had anticipated having two to four children. As the pregnant belly grew, the mother began to suspect that there might be more than what they had initially thought. And indeed, they were in for a surprise - the couple was expecting triplets, a revelation that left them both amazed and delighted.
"Throughout my pregnancy, I knew that the delivery would be via a C-section, but as the delivery date approached, I couldn't help feeling overly nervous. My main focus had always been on keeping the babies healthy and ensuring they had enough time to grow inside me. I had heard many scary scenarios about premature deliveries, so every day counted as I eagerly looked forward to reaching a safer point in the pregnancy."
(During pregnancy with multiples, it seems like everyone enjoys sharing scary stories of others who had early deliveries, and unfortunately, I let that fear creep in.) As we reached a safer stage in the pregnancy, new worries about the delivery began to surface. However, I was fortunate to have an amazing and patient OB who understood my nervousness. He went above and beyond by scheduling the delivery during his vacation time, just to be there to comfort me. Having him by my side during this crucial moment meant the world to me.
Everything went incredibly smoothly. The presence of nearly 20 people in the operating room, including three doctors, nurses, an anesthesiologist, and a NICU crew for each baby, brought a sense of comfort that helped calm my nerves. The sweet and reassuring presence of the anesthesiologist, holding my hand and guiding me through everything, made a significant difference.
During the delivery, Evan moved between my side and the doctors' side, capturing precious moments on video as Eli came into the world headfirst, followed by Easton, who was born in the amniotic sac, and Jade, who entered the world feet first. The entire birth process was captured on video, and while we've decided to keep it private for now, we're excited to share a small snippet of this incredible moment with all of you!
