A woman was filmed dropping off a kitten in front of a shelter. Nobody knows if it was the priority or a person who had found the feline in the street. Either way, the animal was in great need of help.
Joy Alexis runs a veterinary clinic and a shelter named Shelter Venmo , and located in Michigan ( United States ). One day, the shelter’s surveillance camera filmed a lady dropping off a kitten in front of the establishment.
Although frustrated that she hadn’t met the person and been able to chat with her, Joy decided to focus all her energy on the young cat, which she named Betty White Paws .
Betty was paralyzed from the hind legs
Betty couldn’t use her hind legs, and veterinary exams showed that was due to a recent injury. This paralysis also made her incontinent .
Joy started taking it everywhere with her, including to work. She used different therapies to stimulate her paws, including physical therapy by stretching her, but also cold laser therapy. Along with these daily exercises, Betty received medication.
Joy was quite pessimistic about the development of the cat’s abilities, but this one surprised her. Thanks to her great fighting spirit, after a week of treatment, Betty stood on her paws for the first time. A great step taken and which gives hope for the future.
To help her get around, the kitten will soon receive a wheelchair, which will allow her to explore the world. It will certainly give her new reasons to stay motivated and put her legs to work.
Anyway, her savior is determined to do everything to allow her to lead a good life. “ Betty has a resilient spirit, and an unwavering will to live. It makes me want to do everything I can for her ,” she said in a video on TikTok . She also explains that the road to recovery is likely to be long and expensive, and calls for donations to finance everything.
