A cat named Macy was found on the street with one-week-old babies . When they were brought to safety, another litter of kittens in need of help was saved . The mother of the second litter was nowhere to be found, so the volunteers placed the kittens with Macy and hoped she would accept them. Without hesitation and with open paws, she received them and began to nurture and care for them.
“She was the mother of two litters of kittens together, 10 in total,” said Vilma, who volunteers at the Humane League of Lancaster in Pennsylvania. Wilma took in all 11 of them, so Macy could have a comfortable place to raise her kittens and get the help she needed. She soon began to enjoy the conveniences of living indoors. “It didn’t take long for her sweet cuddly personality to shine through and she accepted my help with her babies. Macy had her hands full with 10 hungry mouths and rarely left her side for the first few weeks,” she said.
She indulged their every whim, and if one of them started to cry, she would immediately shower him with kisses. Macy continued to do a phenomenal job, making sure the babies were clean from head to tail and never went to bed on an empty stomach.
At five weeks, the kittens have already become curious and mischievous. Learned to eat on their own with lots of encouragement from Wilma and Macy. They unleashed all their newfound energy on the toys and honed their wrestling skills on each other.
Macy valued her space, peace and quiet. “She spent most of her time on the floor napping, while her kittens napped elsewhere,” Vilma said. Meanwhile, some of them have already been adopted. ” It’s always hard to say goodbye, but they are ready for their forever homes, and this opens my home to new babies who need my help ,” Vilma explained.
Macy has come a long way and has helped not only her own kittens but other litters to grow into happy, healthy young cats.
