A few days ago, Manchester United announced the departure of 7 players, including both first-team and youth players. And in the near future, they may have to offload 10 more players.
On June 16th, Manchester United issued a statement that 7 players would be leaving after their contracts expire at the end of the 2022/23 season. Defenders Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe will depart the club upon the expiration of their contracts. 5 youth players, Ethan Galbraith, Di'Shon Bernard, Eric Hanbury, Charlie Wellens, and Manni Norkett, will also not be retained by Manchester United.
Some of these players have been at the club since they were young and they will receive support from the club. It is worth noting that the young players will be assisted in finding a new team.
However, this is just the beginning of the squad restructuring process. Many players with contracts that are not part of Erik ten Hag's plans will be put on the transfer market.
This will help the club generate additional funds to increase the budget for the summer transfer window. Manchester United is somewhat restricted by the Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations, so they need to balance the books and create wage bill space.
At a minimum, around 10 players are expected to be sold, which means a total of approximately 17 players will leave the Red Devils this summer.
The list of 10 stars who are likely to be sold includes goalkeeper Dean Henderson, defenders Eric Bailly, Alex Telles, Brandon Williams, Harry Maguire, midfielders Donny van de Beek, Fred, Facundo Pellistri, and forwards Anthony Martial and Anthony Elanga.
Among them, Henderson is being pursued by Nottingham and could fetch around £25 million, while Eric Bailly may join Real Betis.
