Against All Odds: Brave 2-Year-Old Girl Battling Rare ᴅɪsᴇᴀsᴇ Defies Expectations, Fits into Newbοrп-Sized Clothes at 3Kg_Lt
Emily Lee, age 25, states that her daughter’s growth was initially questioned during her pregnancy. Abigail only weighed 900 grams when she was born. She currently weighs 3 kilograms.
Emily states that her closest friend also has a two-year-old son, and it is impossible not to observe the difference between the two children.
“Seeing my two-year-old son next to my best friend’s two-year-old son is mind-boggling,” she said.
Abigail’s height of 60 centimeters makes it difficult for her to engage with objects that are typically larger than she is.
“Toys for children her age are enormous compared to her. Emily stated, “Her Barbie table and chairs allow her to sit comfortably.”
Abigail is a healthy child, according to her mother, but because she was born with st s, she cannot walk; she crawls instead.
“She is healthy, but she has ts because she was born with st s. She cannot walk, but she crawls and attends physical therapy. “She eats normally, but there are many things that a typical two-year-old can do that she cannot do due to her size,” the mother explains.
In addition, Abigail cannot see well, and because of her size, her parents are having trouble locating the appropriate pair of spectacles for her.
Abigail’s condition was diagnosed eight weeks after her birth. Doctors cautioned the family that the infant was not developing normally.
“When I was pregnant, she was always three weeks behind in her development,” recalls the mother.
She was born at 36 weeks by ᴄᴇsᴀʀᴇᴀɴ sᴇᴄtɪᴏɴ and was eating and breathing well; however, because she was very small, she had to go straight to the ICU. The parents say that when they found out about their daughter’s ᴅɪᴀɢɴᴏsɪs, it was a big scare, as both had never heard about this type of ᴄᴏɴᴅɪtɪᴏɴ.
For Emily, it was very difficult at first; she didn’t know what to do to help her daughter. Her mother spent months looking for someone who had gone through the same thing and could help in any way.
“The day she was diagnosed, I just sat in my car in the hospital parking lot and cried for two hours because I didn’t know what I was doing,” recalls Emily.
Abigail has an older sister, Samantha, who is four years old. The girl understands that her parents need to pay extra attention to her younger sister, and she tries to help as she can.
“It’s hard to balance a kid with special needs and a kid without, because Samantha knows her sister needs more help. […] Samantha is an absolute rock star; she gets involved in all the therapy, and she’s very protective.”
