During a snowstorm in Istanbul, as the temperature plummeted, the locals showed compassion for homeless animals. Several storeowners opened their doors to stray cats and dogs, offering them a warm and secure place to rest. Their act of kindness was greatly appreciated by these exhausted and cold animals.
The manager of a Penti store, Arzu Inan, welcomed some stray dogs inside while customers were still present. In a Facebook post, she expressed her belief that true affection is the source of warmth. Another animal lover, Selcuk Bayal, welcomed twelve stray cats into his café despite the potential negative impact on business.
The animals at the Atrium Mall were supported not only by the management, but also by customers who cared. Ali Celik, one of these customers, discovered a group of stray animals outside the mall. They were cared for by three strangers who provided cardboard to sleep on and blankets to keep them warm. It’s encouraging to see people banding together to assist these furry creatures.
The canines were also provided with nourishment. In an interview with the Dodo, Celik expressed his admiration for the anonymous individuals who chose to help without seeking recognition: “Their goal was to aid the animals, not to draw attention to themselves.” Celik stated. Numerous shivering and weary animals received the necessary solace and respite from the frigid weather as a result of the generosity and compassion of individuals.
The compassionate actions of these shop owners and customers likely prevented fatalities as they generously welcomed those in need. It is hoped that their acts of kindness will inspire others to behave similarly.
