A 38-year-old mother has transformed the act of dressing into a delightful pastime, joyfully adopting her 18-year-old daughter's style and accumulating more than 60 coordinating ensembles in her collection.
Laura and her partner, Daryl, who is 34 years old, have been together for 15 years, and Darlene is their firstborn. The couple is overjoyed to discover that they are expecting a baby girl. Laura says, "Regardless, I will be happy, but I'm thrilled to know that we're going to have a little daughter. I haven't bought too much beforehand; I want to wait and see which styles and colors will suit her.
But now I'm making up for it. She has a staggering wardrobe, and if I see something on sale, even if she can't wear it for a few years, I'll buy it and put it away. I love dressing her up: I absolutely adore buying clothes for Darlene, and I buy more for her than for myself, and that says something. I'm thrilled to mix and match my outfits with hers or her outfits with mine, and she has some fantastic looks, her expressions are priceless. Perhaps I'm embarrassing her, but she hasn't been able to tell me yet."
Laura enjoys wearing polka dots, animal prints, and other fun patterns, and it's fascinating for her to mix and match them. She even dyes some of her clothes if she finds something with a similar but different-colored pattern than hers. Laura doesn't have a limit to how far she'll go—until Darlene tells her to stop.
She says, "I will continue until my little one is old enough to tell me that she doesn't want to dress like that anymore. I buy a lot of discounted items and even wear clothes that she can grow into, so I have plenty of outfits to match with her for many years to come.
Laura and Darlene's unique style has garnered a lot of positive attention online, and Laura has even been stopped by strangers on the street. She says, "It's clear that we don't always match perfectly. Darlene has some fantastic outfits that I don't have, and I have some outfits that are not suitable for a young child. But when people see us, they are disappointed if we don't coordinate on that particular day.
