Cat Ceca has been serving as the librarian of this library for many years, and it considers this place as its happy home.!!

One of the specifics of the Library in Kostolac, a branch of the “Ilija M. Petrović” National Library in Požarevac, is that it has had a very unusual librarian for more than five years – the cat Cec. ” In the world several years ago, the introduction of dogs or cats into libraries and hospitals began, because they are considered therapeutic animals, ” Renata Minić, who knows her very well , began Ceca’s story for the Minja cat portal .

Namely, Ceca was born during the summer of 2016. One day, as a 2-month-old  , she walked into the Library and thus, it seems, forbade her home and her people – the librarians. At first they called her Lucky , because they thought she was a cat. But when they realized they were wrong, she was named after a librarian, Ceci, whom everyone adored. And so began her magical meow-librarian life.

They decided to give the cat the same name for the sake of symbolism. As Renata told us: “Souls always return to a familiar place, just not always in the same form”.

The presence of the kitty librarian is welcomed by users and guests who are delighted by her presence. No one minds, what’s more – everyone wants to see her and enjoy her company.

The library in Kostolac is, by the way, one of the three libraries in Serbia that has a cat, but Ceca’s story was especially inspiring to us. And what does her day look like? Well, as they would say – just like a cat .

Ceca is regularly vaccinated against infectious diseases and cleaned of parasites (internal and external). Librarians buy food and sand for this beauty, Renata tells us. Ceca is spayed and likes to walk around the library, but quickly returns back.

Another thing he loves is to communicate. She is a great talker, such a voice follows her.

If you were wondering if Ceca participates in events organized by the Library, the answer is – of course! Ceca loves literary evenings, because a lot of people gather then, so she seems a little important. She takes a place in the audience (of course, in the first row) and does not allow anyone to move her from there. Renata also tells us that many people come to the Library to take pictures with her, as well as that neighbors from the area know her and when they see that she is outside and the door is closed, they let her in.

In addition to Renata, who is also the head of the branch, two other colleagues work in this library – Nevena Vuksanović and Marija Milovanović. Ceca loves them all equally, and they care about her completely equally. Many writers who came were also delighted by her appearance.

A fantastic story about the great life of a cat! We hope you enjoyed reading it, at least as much as our hearts were filled with the opportunity to write it. Many thanks to Renata for sharing her story with us and all the librarians and people who take care of this very special creature.
