Encounter the Pink-Browed Rosefinch: A Flying Cotton Candy of Elegance with Deep Pink Plumage

Described as a flying “fluffy ball of cotton candy,” this graceful, bright raspberry pink bird is about as cute as a little bird can get.
Meet the Pink-browed Rosefinch

The pink-browed rosefinch (Carpodacus rodochroa), is a finch in the family Fringillidae. The male is a bright raspberry pink with a deep pink belly and maroon crown, along with a “browed” facial pattern and faint streaking on the back.

The female of the species is brown with streaked underparts, white eyebrows, and lightly streaked pale cheeks and throat.

The Pink-browed rosefinch ranges across the northern regions of the Indian subcontinent, mainly in the Himalayas, and is migratory.

They are found in countries like Bhutan, China, India, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Thailand, and Vietnam.

This species prefers to live in boreal forests and subtropical and tropical high-altitude shrubland. Here it likes to feed on seeds, berries, and grasses, as well as small herbs.

During the breeding season, a compact nest is built by the female about 2 meters above the ground in bush cover. It is made out of strips of birch-bark, animal hair, and moss.
Due to its large range, this bird is not thought to be under any immediate threat.
