Fido’s Taphouse does more than serve food and drink; they give disadvantaged dogs a new shot at life.
At Fido’s, you can grab a great meal while spending time with some adorable rescue pups.
The bar was created by Scott Porter and is dedicated to helping dogs in need. Sounds like the best bar ever for dog lovers!
Fido’s is partnered with the rescue group Oregon Friends Of Shelter Animals, OFOSA, whose mission is to “save as many homeless adoptable animals as humanly possible, restore them to health, and find them loving forever homes”
Fido’s usually has 4-8 adoptable dogs on-site that come from OFOSA. Patrons can play with the dogs in the bar’s “day room” and can also apply to adopt a dog.
It costs 4$ for a 30-minute play session with the pups, and the money is put towards covering costs and supporting charities.
For the people who want to adopt one of the dogs, there’s a short waiting period to ensure that they’re sure that they want, and are able to, adopt.
They also need to bring over their family to meet the dog to make sure that they’ll make a good fit.
So far, over 70 dogs have been adopted through Fido’s.
On their Facebook and Instagram, Fido’s posts about new foster dogs, successful adoptions and, of course, their tasty food.
Fido’s often partner with different charities, host their events for free, and promote their missions.
They also make regular donations to charity.
Fido’s Taphouse really sounds like every dog lover’s dream pub. Nothing makes a meal tastier than knowing that you are contributing to the wellbeing of dogs in need.
Fido’s is doing a great job and will continue to put needy dogs in loving homes. You can learn more about Fido’s here and you can learn more about OFOSA here.
