When Mama Pickles was discovered wandering alone in early September, it was evident that she was in dire need of assistance. The two-year-old pregnant pit bull was in a vulnerable state, prompting animal control officers to swiftly remove her from the streets and attempt to determine her origins. They managed to track down her owners, who callously decided to abandon her at the shelter, expressing no further interest in her well-being.

Mama Pickles, burdened by her pregnancy, required specialized care that the shelter couldn't provide. Fortunately, Pits & Giggles Rescue stepped in, specializing in offering support to pregnant and nursing mother dogs along with their puppies. The moment she arrived, the affectionate pit bull exhibited immense joy, showering her new rescue friends with attention and kisses. Despite her cumbersome belly making movement challenging, Mama Pickles refused to be hindered. Described as a "pit bull in a china shop" by volunteer Lauren Casteen Sykes, Mama Pickles exuded boundless tail wags, smothering kisses, and an unwavering desire to be close to her caretakers. She was undoubtedly a "velcro pitty" with mischievous glints in her eyes.

Photography. She generously devotes her time to capturing stunning images of the rescue dogs and puppies, aiding in their adoption process. When Mama Pickles arrived at the rescue, it became evident to everyone that she was the perfect candidate for a heartwarming maternity photo shoot. The results surpassed all expectations, leaving everyone in awe.

Mama Pickles couldn't contain her excitement during the photo session, making it challenging for her to stay still. Sykes shared, "She was so thrilled and full of energy! She adores affection and treats and eagerly participated in the shoot. The biggest challenge was getting her to hold her pose because she absolutely adores people!" Despite the difficulty in keeping her settled, the endearing moments captured in the photographs were beyond delightful. Mama Pickles' affectionate nature and radiant personality shone through, making for truly captivating images.

During the photo shoot, as Sykes attempted to pose Mama Pickles, her diva-like behavior kept everyone in fits of laughter. With each pose, Mama Pickles would exude the most fierce and stylish demeanor one could imagine. However, her clumsy belly and playful personality would often sabotage the elegance she tried to display. It became a hilarious spectacle for everyone involved.

Sykes couldn't help but chuckle at the amusing sight. "It was absolutely hilarious," she shared. "Mama Pickles is all about that belly, and her adorable clumsiness made it even more entertaining. While it wasn't too challenging to get her in position, keeping her still long enough to capture a perfect shot proved to be quite the task! Her bows were constantly crooked, slipping off, and even causing her to trip over them. We couldn't help but burst into laughter as she embraced her cartoon-like nature." The whole experience was a lighthearted joy, and Mama Pickles' playful antics added an extra layer of charm to the already delightful photo shoot.

Despite all the distractions, Sykes was able to capture some stunning, adorable photos of the proud mama-to-be, and was so thrilled that Mama Pickles was finally getting the love and recognition she clearly deserved.

“She’s quite the model,” Sykes said. “Her legs are certainly too short for the runway, but she was really loving all the attention and affection.”Once the shoot was over, all that was left to do was wait for Mama Pickles’ babies to arrive — and they didn’t have to wait long! Over the weekend, Mama Pickles gave birth to eight healthy puppies — all fabulous little girls just like their mom. After giving Mama Pickles and her puppies some time to rest and relax, Sykes and everyone at the rescue decided it was only fitting to do a newborn photo shoot, as a follow-up to the first shoot — and this time, Mama Pickles was even more proud, posing next to her adorable puppies. She’s already an incredible mom, making sure her baby girls are safe and cared for every step of the way, and everyone is so proud of the amazing job she’s doing.
