While on our daily patrol of the residential area, we stumbled upon a group of helpless dogs that were about to be taken to the slaughterhouse. Though we were only able to rescue a few of them, we still felt grateful for being able to save their lives. Unfortunately, some dogs couldn’t be rescued and met their fate in that merciless place. One day, we saw a girl riding her bicycle with a dog by her side, heading towards the slaughterhouse to sell it in the market. We tried to negotiate with her, offering 200 thousand, then 500 thousand, and finally 700 thousand to buy the dog from her. However, she refused. Despite this setback, we remained determined to save the poor dog from such a grisly end.
Eventually, we had to purchase it again for 900,000 VND, equivalent to 45 USD. The seller demanded an exorbitant price in comparison to what’s available in the Vietnamese market. But we had no choice as we needed to rescue the dog that was reported missing. Otherwise, it would have ended up in a slaughterhouse. It baffles me how someone could mistreat their pet in such a way. If you can’t provide for your pet, it’s better to find them a new home where they’ll be taken care of.
When given the chance, a panicked dog will attempt to flee. Due to its nervousness, the canine lacks an appetite and may even appear hungry but won’t budge when food is presented.
