Jasmin Aileen Valero, a new mother, was looking forward to getting some much-needed sleep after tirelessly taking care of her newborn baby. However, she soon regretted asking her partner to help out. Little did she expect that her daughter's father would find it amusing to shave off the baby's hair as a joke.
Needless to say, Jasmin did not find the situation funny, and she is not alone in her feelings. She decided to share a video capturing her shock, and it quickly went viral, with thousands of people reacting strongly, with some even accusing it of being "child abuse."
Jasmin had just woken up when Joshua Luevanoz, the father of baby Jazlyn, handed her the child and started recording the incident.
Jasmin was in complete disbelief. A staggering number of over 3.9 million people had witnessed the moment she broke down in tears, as the video rapidly spread across the internet.
At first, a towel concealed the baby's head, while the heartless father prepared for a surprise reveal. Unaware of what was about to happen, Jasmin lovingly bounced Jazlyn on her knee.
Then, Joshua removed the towel, exposing their baby's freshly shaved head, and Jasmin's jaw instantly dropped in shock.
She erupted into screams of disbelief, while Joshua's laughter echoed in the background.
The situation overwhelmed Jasmin. She expressed her distress, saying, "That's not funny. Why is she bald? Joshua, that's not funny."
However, according to a report by Mail Online, it is actually a tradition in Mexican families to shave the heads of young children. This practice is believed to promote thicker and nicer hair growth, as explained by Jasmin.
It appears that Jasmin and Joshua had discussed whether or not to go ahead with the custom, but he chose to proceed without informing her.
Despite the challenging situation they had gone through, Jasmin and Joshua managed to maintain a smile.
Jasmin shared her feelings, saying, "My daughter's father and I had agreed that we were not going to do that until the day when I asked him if he could watch her so I could sleep a bit longer, and he woke me up with that surprise."
"I was heartbroken because my baby went from having a full head of hair to none at all, but as you can see, she wasn't bothered in the slightest. She's always such a happy baby."
