Admitting to Viaplay, Martin Odegaard expressed that Arsenal's failure to clinch the title is truly hard to swallow.
Arsenal left behind a great deal of regret this season as they couldn't hold their ground in the decisive phase and were surpassed by Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title. However, securing the second position is still considered a significant achievement for the Emirates Stadium team.
In the final matchday, under the relaxed spirit, Mikel Arteta's team secured a resounding victory with a 5-0 scoreline against Wolves. However, it's evident that losing the title to the hands of the Citizens has left many Arsenal players feeling a deep pain.
Martin Odegaard admitted, "It's tough, of course, there are many things that come into play. We were competing against a Manchester City that has won it all."
Furthermore, we had to face teams that set up a very tight defensive structure, and towards the end of the season, especially in the three matches (that Arsenal drew), we lost momentum.
There are many factors that could have influenced the season, and we were close together, experiencing the disappointment to come closer to glory.
But I think this will haunt me for the rest of my life. We were very close, and I almost achieved my dream. I believe it will be a painful feeling throughout the remaining years of my life, but we have to give it another try in the upcoming season."
