The possibility of BLACKPINK's youngest member, Lisa, re-signing her contract with YG Entertainment is becoming increasingly uncertain.
Korean media reports that Lisa has not reached an agreement on contract extension with YG Entertainment, causing great concern among fans about the future of the entire group.
Rumors have surfaced that discussions regarding the contract extension of Lisa, a member of the popular music group BLACKPINK, and YG Entertainment, the managing company, have yielded no results as both parties have been unable to reach an agreement.
Information about Lisa's contract originated from China. An anonymous Chinese company stated, "We have coordinated schedules with YG and Lisa. However, it has become difficult to coordinate schedules beyond August due to the uncertainty surrounding Lisa's contract extension."
On July 12th, a representative from YG denied these claims, stating, "That is due to tour and personal schedules, unrelated to Lisa's contract extension situation."
In addition, the contract extension process for the remaining three members, Jisoo, Jennie, and Rosé, with YG Entertainment is reportedly progressing relatively smoothly. An industry insider revealed that YG and the three BLACKPINK members have found common ground and have decided to continue their journey together after the contract extension, as reported by Allkpop.
BLACKPINK made their debut on August 8, 2016. Similar to most other K-pop groups, the exclusive contracts of the four members with YG Entertainment became effective on the official debut date, with a duration of 7 years. Therefore, the group's contract is set to expire in August.
