Despite his age, Modric remains an integral part of Real Madrid in his 11th season with the Spanish club since joining in the summer of 2012. The Croatian midfielder appeared in 33 La Liga matches in the 2022/23 season and played a total of 54 games across all competitions last season.

After achieving numerous titles with Real Madrid (including 5 Champions League titles, 3 La Liga titles, and many others), many expected Modric to be tempted by lucrative offers from outside of Europe in the summer 2023 transfer window. However, according to Marca, Modric wants to stay at Real Madrid until the end of his contract and retire at the Bernabeu instead of seeking financial rewards in the Far East.

It is reported that a Saudi Arabian club is ready to offer Modric a 2-year contract with a salary of £68 million per season. This salary is seven times higher than his current contract at the Spanish giants.

Despite the tempting offer, Marca asserts that Modric is determined to stay at Real Madrid and continue performing at the highest level until his retirement. "Money is not everything for Luka Modric. He wants to keep playing for Real Madrid and retire at the Bernabeu," emphasized Marca.

Modric is currently preparing with the Croatian national team for the UEFA Nations League Finals 2022/23, which will take place from June 15-19. In the upcoming semifinal, he and his teammates will face the Netherlands on Thursday morning. The 37-year-old midfielder hopes to help Croatia win the tournament this year.
