Manchester United is poised for a significant personnel overhaul following the conclusion of the summer transfer window.
In the 2022/23 season, Manchester United clinched the League Cup and finished third in the Premier League. However, they lacked depth in their squad.
Therefore, Manager Erik ten Hag is determined to undertake a second major revamp. Manchester United swiftly secured the signing of Mason Mount for £60 million (~€70 million) plus add-ons.
The Red Devils also initiated negotiations and reached an agreement to acquire Andre Onana for approximately £44 million (€55 million).
After finalizing these two deals, Manchester United shifted their focus to Rasmus Hojlund. The club has agreed on personal terms and is prepared to meet the £55 million (~€63 million) price tag to secure the Danish forward.
But Manchester United's plans don't stop there. According to Fabrizio Romano, if the Hojlund deal is completed, Manchester United will turn their attention to Sofyan Amrabat. Fiorentina demands £34 million (~€40 million) for this signature.
Lastly, the fifth addition to Manchester United could be Axel Disasi. The club intends to sign Disasi as a backup option for Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez. Disasi's price is estimated at around £43 million (~€50 million).
Thus, Manchester United's transfer plans may exceed the £200 million mark, surpassing the initial budget of £120 million. Additionally, the club may also secure the signing of Jonny Evans on a free transfer to strengthen the squad. Evans will have the opportunity to showcase his abilities during the preseason tour, after which Manager Ten Hag will make a decision.
Naturally, in order to fund these transfers, Manchester United will offload surplus players. The club has recently agreed to sell Alex Telles to Al Nassr for £4 million. If certain additional terms are met, Manchester United stands to gain £10 million.
Similarly, deals involving players such as Harry Maguire, Fred, or Donny van De Beek will provide Manchester United with additional funds for their transfer activities. With at least five new signings and favorable circumstances, Manchester United's squad will become formidable.
