According to sources close to PSG, the Parisian club and Real Madrid have reached a world-record transfer agreement of 300 million euros for forward Kylian Mbappe.
According to PSG Community, an exclusive source, Mbappe will break the transfer record in his move from PSG to Real Madrid in the upcoming summer transfer window of 2023. A meeting was reportedly held between PSG's Qatari owners and representatives from Real Madrid on Wednesday (June 22), and negotiations are said to be "accelerating."
PSG's owner, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who is also the ruler of Qatar, and Real Madrid President Florentino Perez have exchanged messages in the past few hours to reach an agreement.
According to PSG Community, the Mbappe transfer deal will be valued at 250 million euros initially, with an additional 50 million euros in bonuses related to the number of matches the 24-year-old player will play for Real Madrid. It remains to be seen if Mbappe will get his hands on the highest individual award for the best player in the world, the Ballon d'Or.
If this information is accurate and the agreement is finalized, Real Madrid will break the previous world transfer record set when PSG activated Neymar's 222 million euro release clause with Barcelona in 2017.
Mbappe joined PSG on loan from Monaco in the same summer before becoming the world's most expensive teenage player in a permanent transfer worth 145 million euros, with an additional rumored 35 million euros in add-ons a year later. Real Madrid's willingness to pay such a sum comes as a surprise as Mbappe would become a free agent just a year later.
Not long ago, Mbappe announced his intention to leave PSG but later shared that he was "very happy" at Parc des Princes and planned to honor his commitment to PSG. However, the club is reported to have taken a firm stance with their star player, explaining that he would be sold if he doesn't commit to his future.
Several newspapers, including Mundo Deportivo, reported that PSG would refuse to sell Mbappe to Real Madrid, but it seems that the Qatari ruler has conceded to this and instead aims to profit from their most valuable asset. As of now, AS and MARCA, two major sports newspapers in the Spanish capital, known for in-depth coverage of Real Madrid, have not confirmed or denied the existence of a world-record agreement.
