As a passing vehicle traversed the area, they noticed Violet, along with several other dogs, chained up with thick, unforgiving metal chains. These chains not only restricted their freedom to roam but also inflicted harm upon them. The sight tugged at their heartstrings as they witnessed the deep purple bruises and wounds caused by the relentless grip of those iron shackles on their innocent bodies. Their hearts shattered as they met Violet's gaze, a mix of pain and flickering hope amidst the adversity.
When Violet was found, she was approximately 2 years old, and Angela Stell, the founder and director of NMDOG, strongly suspected that she had spent her entire life in chains.
Violet and five other dogs were uncovered on a property in New Mexico, where it is against the law to keep dogs tethered when they are not under direct human supervision. This discovery revealed a clear violation of the regulations put in place to ensure the well-being and proper treatment of animals.
In a desperate attempt to find the owners, they called upon the local county sheriff's department to investigate the property. However, it became evident that the dogs had been left behind, abandoned and forsaken. With heavy hearts, they made the decision to rescue all of the dogs, including Violet, and bring them under the care of NMDOG. It marked the beginning of a new chapter, a journey towards healing and redemption for these resilient souls.
"Violet was visibly startled, and even now, she remains slightly apprehensive," Stell remarked. They suspect that Violet may have endured mistreatment, which could explain her cautious demeanor.
Thankfully, the brave pup is currently in a state of good health and gradually recovering from the emotional trauma she has experienced. Once her recovery journey reaches its conclusion, she will become eligible for adoption, opening the door for a brighter future filled with love and care."
