She just headlined a set at Coachella with her girl group BLACKPINK. And now Rosé (born Roseanne Park) is preparing to head to Australia as part of BLACKPINK’s sold-out In Your Area world tour. Although she’s based in South Korea, the 22-year-old was born in New Zealand and raised in Melbourne.
She then relocated to Seoul, where she took singing, dancing, and language lessons for several years before debuting with BLACKPINK in late 2016. In June, she will return to Australia with the girl group to perform sold-out shows in Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena and Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena. When the Australian tour dates were first announced in February, Rosé wrote on Instagram: ‘The dates are out… I’m coming home!!!’
This isn’t the first time that the K-pop superstar has expressed excitement at the prospect of returning Down Under.
In an interview with Sydney Morning Herald in 2017, she said: ‘I’m just dreaming that one day I’ll be able to come back to my home town and perform for everyone.’
BLACKPINK are currently one of the biggest girl groups in the world, racking up over 3.5 BILLION views on YouTube. Their recent EP, Kill This Love, reached No. 24 on America’s Billboard 200 and No. 18 on Australia’s ARIA chart.
Earlier this month, their Kill This Love music video broke the record for the most viewed YouTube video in the first 24 hours after release and became the fastest-liked video of all time on the platform.
