"Swift Rescue by Kind-Hearted Rescuers: Dog Trapped in Collar on Railway Track Freed"

Thanks to an amazing Animal Care Officer from City of San Antonio Animal Care Services, a dog tied to an active train track is safe.

According to the animal welfare organization, on Wednesday, Officer Edwards responded to an urgent 311 call about a dog tied to an active train track that couldn’t get free. When the officer arrived, knowing that a train could be roaring down the tracks at any moment, he quickly spotted the dog lying on the tracks. As the officer approached, he saw the leash attached to the dog’s neck, which was secured to the tracks with a nail and was tightening as the dog struggled to free itself.

One can only imagine how scared the dog was, and he was not ready to trust the officer. Fortunately, Officer Edwards was able to rescue the dog using a humanitarian pole, working quickly but quietly to earn the trust of the critically endangered Labrador retriever.

The officer moved quickly when he heard train whistles nearby, and before the two could get back to the animal transport vehicle, a train sped by.

ALTHOUGH NO ONE IS SURE IF LUCKY [NAME GIVEN TO DOG]’S LEASH CAUGHT ON THE NAIL WHEN HE WALKED PASS OR SOMEONE SECURED HIM. BUT WE ARE GRATEFUL TO THOSE WHO REPORTED THIS SITUATION…

Hours later and obviously in a much less stressful environment, Lucky seems to be feeling better and has been eager to make new friends.
