The boy dreamed of being a firefighter because his father poured gasoline on him and set him on fire, causing him severe burns.

It has been 12 years since her biological father poured gasoline on fire, through many surgeries, Linh became a young teenager with many dreams and ambitions.

Burning children alive because they want to hold on to the love of husband and wife

Returning to village 6, Te Tan commune, Nong Cong district (Thanh Hoa) asked Vu Quoc Linh’s family, everyone knew. They know me from the incident of being burned alive by my biological father, so far I have become a young man full of energy.

Ms. Le Thi Ha (SN 1984, Linh’s mother) shared, in 2007 she married Mr. Vu Van Quang (SN 1980). A year later, she and her husband gave birth to a beautiful son, Vu Quoc Linh.

Also since having children, Mr. Quang became addicted to alcohol, gambling, many times Ha advised to stop but could not. Since then, the couple’s relationship has been dented and conflicts often arise. At the peak, there was a time when the couple could not live together, so Ha left her mother’s house in Te Tan commune to live and filed for divorce with Quang.

After many unsuccessful conciliation times, around April 2011, the People’s Court of Nong Cong district called Quang to work. At this time, this man brought his son Vu Quoc Linh and a petrol bottle to the court to threaten to burn the baby, forcing the trial to be adjourned.

Just because he didn’t want a divorce, Quang always took out his son to scare Ha to force her to come back to him. On the morning of April 27, 2011, Quang took Linh by motorbike to his mother-in-law’s house, where Ha was living. On the way, Quang bought a 2-liter can of gasoline.

When he got there, Quang did not see Ha and said: “Today, if I can’t advise Ha to withdraw the divorce petition, my father and son will die here”.

After a while of talking back and forth, Quang carried Linh on his motorbike and went out the gate, locked the gate of his mother-in-law’s house, poured gasoline on Linh’s body, and then ruthlessly used a lighter to burn him like a torch. After burning, Quang got on a motorbike and left the scene.

At this time, Ms. Ha’s younger brother quickly climbed the wall and ran to the gate, hugged Linh and threw it into a nearby pond to put out the fire. After that, relatives took him to Thanh Hoa Children’s Hospital for emergency. Linh’s health was damaged more than 86%.

Vu Van Quang was also arrested by the authorities shortly after, and sentenced to 20 years in prison by the People’s Court.

Dream to be a firefighter

Since Linh was burned alive by her biological father, she has turned 15 years old. During all this time, Ha did not know how many times she had to take her children for treatment and surgery. From a child with burns all over her body, Linh has now become an energetic teenager.

“My grandson Linh is like today, my mother and I are very grateful to the doctors for their dedication. Part of it is because Linh’s energy is always optimistic and knows how to take care of herself, so she can be like this,” Ha shared.

Ms. Ha still remembers forever, the day she just started 1st grade, her face was deformed, but fortunately, everyone loved her, no one shunned her. The amputated fingers also make it difficult to hold a pen.

“The day of practicing letters for my child to enter the first grade was the most difficult. His fingers are short and movement is difficult. Sometimes I try to hold the pen to write, causing the young skin to bleed. Although it hurts, I still try to practice writing. At that time, I loved my son and didn’t want him to go to class anymore. But she said she wanted to go to school like her friends, so the mother and daughter started to write again,” recalled Ha.

This year, Linh has entered high school, when asked about her dreams and plans, she just smiled and said: “Although my body can’t meet the profession of being a firefighter, I always desire and strive to study. every day to make that dream come true. I love being a firefighter.”

Having gone through many surgeries at home and abroad, here Linh will still have to undergo a major surgery in Korea. Linh hopes that this surgery will give her a chance to fulfill her dream.
