A few days ago, the volunteers of the Cat Shelter Meow paws from Macedonia saw a post about an abandoned little cat with a terrible wound on its leg. The cat was in another city and they thought that someone else would take care of it, because lately they had a lot of responsibilities with abandoned cats.
But when they saw that the cat was still on the street in that condition, without veterinary help, at a temperature below zero in the evening, they arranged for this little soul to be transferred to them so that it could receive help , to check what is happening with the leg , as well as his state of health. In addition, their goal was to provide him with a warm and safe place.
On Thursday, October 20, he arrived in their town and went straight to the vet . As they wrote, his leg is in a bad condition, and at first glance it seems that there is no chance of saving it .
They did a blood test, which shows a huge increase in white blood cells. This sweetie was under infection and in pain for a long time. He is also very anemic, red blood cells, hemoglobin and hematocrit are very low. He is full of fleas, with mange in his ears, and his stomach is all round, probably full of worms.
They did an X-ray. His knee was broken, as a result he was dragging his leg. Since it is a small cat, they believe that it was probably hit by some non-human, because they believe that if it had been hit by a car, it would have had more fractures. It’s amazing how much pain these little creatures can take and still trust humans and purr when they get a cuddle…
“For now, he is in the veterinary clinic, under strong antibiotics and painkillers, there is no chance of surgery until the infection is under control. He will get flea ampoules and a deworming pill after he eats something. No words are needed for this cruelty that is happening here,” the volunteers wrote.
