With only approximately 100 known cases worldwide, this condition usually manifests during childhood, making Layla's diagnosis particularly unique.
Charlotte Davis, Layla's mother, expressed her strong desire for her daughter to embrace her uniqueness, despite the distinct appearance of her hair compared to others. She is determined to create an environment where Layla feels confident and proud of her individuality as she grows up.
Initially, Charlotte was in denial about the severity of the situation, but she has now come to embrace and take pride in receiving a diagnosis for her daughter's condition. Layla's hair started to appear fluffy when she was around one year old, and it has progressively grown outward since then. Layla herself has started to engage with her hair, touching and playing with it in her own curious way.
