Ellie’s daily life was extremely difficult when she wandered the streets of New York alone. This cat suffering from blindness and having her head tilted to the side would have had a hard time surviving for long in these conditions, but residents and volunteers gave her the help she needed.
It was in a parking lot in the New York borough of Brooklyn (United States) that a cat with a tabby coat called Ellie had been noticed by residents. Worried about the fate of the wandering feline whose head tilts to the side, they decided to mobilize to rescue him.
They were helped by members of local animal welfare associations, including volunteers from Greenpoint Cats and City Critters . The cat was then placed in foster care, according to the account reported by Cole & Marmalade .
After an initial veterinary examination revealed that she was visually impaired , Ellie was seen by several specialists who were interested in her head tilt. The volunteers thought an ear infection might be the cause of this position, but they were relieved to learn that she had no condition. The cat just came into the world like that.
Today, nothing prevents Ellie from leading a happy and fulfilling life in her temporary home. She takes advantage of all the beautiful things that her new existence offers her while waiting for the next big step, that of adoption.
Inseparable friends and a common passion
Until then, she intends to continue spending as much time as possible with Jay , her best friend. 4 months her junior (she is 10 months old), she met him at the foster family. The 2 cats quickly became inseparable.
Their favorite activity is to sit side by side facing the window to observe what is happening outside, especially the passage of birds. Ellie obviously can’t see them clearly, but she enjoys perceiving their movements and shadows.
At Greenpoint Cats , she is described as ” talkative and agile, affectionate and wise “. As for Jay, he is a ” clumsy and intuitive little guy who can sense the bad mood of others and knows how to reverse it “.
Their foster family and volunteers now hope to find them a forever family.
