While exploring Sarajevo in Bosnia, a man with the name Mark (who wished to remain anonymous) heard an unusual noise that caught his attention. Following the sound, he discovered a cardboard box situated among the trees on the roadside. As he approached, he was pleasantly surprised to find four abandoned puppies huddled together in the dirt, crying out for help.
According to The Dodo, Lisa, the spouse of Mark, stated that leaving the puppies behind was never an option for her husband. The Nomadic Canadians, also known as the couple who quit their jobs and sold their house to explore the world, stumbled upon the cute puppies while residing in a leased apartment in Sarajevo. Fortunately, their landlord allowed them to care for the puppies temporarily while they contemplated their next travel destination.
Handling four energetic puppies in a confined space was no easy feat. Lisa revealed that the adorable pups woke up every few hours, requiring her and Mark to alternate sleeping shifts to monitor them. Keeping the little ones amused proved to be quite a challenge despite their fondness for the furry cuties. Despite their attachment to the puppies, Mark and Lisa knew they couldn’t take them on their upcoming trip. They found themselves at a loss on how to find someone willing to adopt these lovable pooches in an unfamiliar place.
Lisa revealed that her head was filled with numerous ideas on what to do next. For six days, they went through a rollercoaster ride of emotions, including feeling devastated that the dogs were left alone, appreciative that they discovered them, uneasy about their next steps, delighted to be spending time with them, sleep-deprived, fearful and anxious that they wouldn’t find a resolution, but still optimistic and resolute. Lisa and her partner had previously experienced losing their dog, Kelso, three years back, so they were unwilling to abandon these dogs.
Lisa adored dogs, and abandoning them was never an option for her. Luckily, while taking the puppies out for a walk around her apartment complex, a local family showed interest in them. The family supported Lisa in finding the perfect place for the pups to stay. After some searching, Save The Animals Now, a shelter with enough room, caught the couple’s attention. Seeing the puppies in good hands brought tears of joy to Lisa’s eyes, and she was grateful for the outcome. She felt that this whole situation was meant to be and that fate had played a role in connecting the family and the shelter.
After a while, the couple received some incredible news. All four puppies that they had saved finally found their loving homes and were eagerly waiting for their new families. It was an emotional outcome that wouldn’t have been possible without their timely rescue.
