When she noticed severe pain at 34 weeks of pregnancy, Nina Langley thought she was going to give birth prematurely, but it was actually pain because she had bowel cancer that had spread to her liver.
A year ago, mother Nina Langley was diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome – a dangerous disease that can lead to bowel cancer. However, despite her illness, she still decided to get pregnant. During her pregnancy, Nina often suffered from pain in her ribs and shoulder blades, but doctors always reassured her that it was a side effect of pregnancy.
At the end of the 7th month of pregnancy, when the pain became intense and she thought she was going to give birth prematurely, suddenly the doctor informed her that she had bowel cancer and was spreading to the liver. Langley received emergency surgery shortly after to save the baby in the abdomen. Only then did the doctors conduct treatment to save her life.
Mother Nina Langley and her baby were lucky to escape death from bowel cancer during pregnancy.
Although she was in pain during her pregnancy, Nina didn’t think it was because of bowel cancer.
Ed Cusick, Nina Langley’s fiancé, said: “Nina is my whole world, it really hurts when I see her suffer from illness every day. We were so happy when we found out we were going to be parents, but after the doctor’s diagnosis of Nina’s illness, we were devastated. My wife and I decided to put a status line on Facebook to ask for help to raise money because the cost of the treatment is very expensive.”
Nina Langley’s son, Teddy, had an emergency caesarean section 6 weeks before his due date, so he received special care for premature babies.

Talking about his wife’s unexpected birth, Ed Cusick confided: “Nina is braver than I thought, she always tries to live for her children. I can’t imagine what I would do if I lost her and Teddy.”
After her body recovered from an emergency cesarean section, Langley’s mother began chemotherapy. “Nina was worried at first that she might not be able to see Teddy grow up. But thanks to her efforts and the help of doctors, Nina’s cancer has shown signs of remission,” Cusick added.
Mr. Cusick raised money for charity to pay for his wife’s medical treatment.
After a period of treatment, Langley’s mother was allowed to go home, however, the treatment process needed to be prolonged. “Teddy has made Nina happier, it’s amazing, I hope our family will be together,” said baby Teddy happily.
