Las Vegas couple, Eʋonne and Deon Derrico, already had four young children when they discovered they were expecting quintuplets. On September 6th, Eʋonne gave birth to two boys and three girls at Banner Desert Medical Center.
With nine kids under the age of seven, the couple expressed their joy and gratitude. The family eagerly awaits bringing the rest of their new babies home, with the smallest one, Daiten, still in the hospital. Eʋonne emphasized her priority of ensuring each child feels loved and cared for.
The Derricos initially believed they were having quadruplets but were surprised to learn they were expecting quintuplets. They sought specialized care and relocated to Phoenix for the pregnancy. After spending her last trimester on bed rest, Eʋonne gave birth at 32 weeks.
The babies’ names all start with the letter ‘D,’ following a family tradition. The parents announced the gender of each baby in the delivery room. While the couple had twins and multiples in their families, the odds of having quintuplets were extremely rare.
The Derricos are now adjusting to their expanded family and finding their new normal. They mentioned the need to make some adjustments, particularly in terms of transportation, as their current vehicle cannot accommodate their entire family.
