Manager Erik ten Hag is still keen on acquiring a new center-back, especially after parting ways with Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe. The Red Devils have also listed Eric Bailly for sale as they look to offload the defender.

Additionally, Manchester United is willing to let captain Harry Maguire leave. According to the Daily Mail, the club has nearly agreed on a £30 million deal for Maguire, who is drawing interest from Tottenham. On the other hand, despite their efforts, Manchester United couldn't secure the signings of Kim Min-jae and Jurrien Timber, as both players have found new clubs.

Kim Min-jae has joined Bayern Munich, while Jurrien Timber has reached an agreement with Arsenal. As a result, manager Erik ten Hag has turned his attention to the possibility of bringing in Goncalo Inacio. Inacio is one of the most talented young center-backs in Europe at the moment. The 21-year-old player made 52 appearances for Sporting Lisbon in the 2022/23 season, contributing 5 goals and 6 assists.

With his impressive performances last season, Inacio earned call-ups to the Portugal national team for two EURO 2024 qualifying matches. Manchester United scouts have been monitoring Inacio for a while, and the Red Devils are preparing to make their initial offer for this transfer.

Manchester United is considering a bid of €35 million for Inacio. However, Sporting Lisbon is not willing to let him leave for less than €50 million. Liverpool and Newcastle are also said to be interested in the Portuguese player, and they are ready to make higher offers to persuade the club. Nevertheless, with the good relationship between Manchester United and Sporting Lisbon, they can potentially reach an agreement early in this transfer deal.
